Community Impact

The North Penn United Way recognizes the spirit of the North Penn and Indian Valley communities. The North Penn United Way is committed to achieving greater community impact by focusing its available resources to create positive and lasting change for the community. United Way works to advance the common good by creating opportunities for a good life for all through focusing on three target areas:

  • Education - Helping Children and Youth Achieve Their Potential
  • Income - Promoting Financial Stability and Independence
  • Health - Improving People's Health

The North Penn United Way accomplishes its mission by collaborating with various nonprofit organizations, businesses, and other community partners. We believe that only when we mobilize the power of the community can we truly attain positive community results. Because of this belief, the North Penn United Way works to:

  • Foster community and volunteer engagement
  • Identify community needs
  • Educate itself, community partners and the community about community needs
  • Build relationships and collaborations that will work to address community needs
  • Build the community

Community Solutions Teams

Community Solutions Teams are a primary vehicle for mobilizing the North Penn and Indian Valley communities and for integrating the full potential of resources and assets in accomplishing the mission of advancing the common good. Each team brings together volunteers from businesses, nonprofit organizations, health and human service providers, local government, and faith based organizations from all over the community. These volunteers are engaged year-round, working to address community needs.

An integral part of our collaborative efforts has been the formation of six Community Solutions that were identified during the three day Community Summit in 2007, that used the Appreciative Inquiry Method. The Community Solutions Teams are made up of over 70 business leaders and community partners who volunteer their time. The teams work on a variety of projects aimed at addressing community needs. The seven teams are:

  • Mobilizing Resources for Community Solutions Team
  • Community Investment Strategies Solutions Team
  • Public Policy Community Solutions Team
  • Diversity Team
  • Community Communications Team
  • Leadership Development Community Team
  • Project Forum

These teams have been active and working on community projects in efforts to help youth achieve their full potential, promote financial stability and independence for all, improve people's health and secure necessary services for vulnerable residents.
