From the President's Office
Welcome:
As president of the North Penn United Way's board of directors, I have had the good fortune to witness countless acts of caring by individuals throughout the North Penn and Indian Valley areas.
Every day, hundreds of volunteers and staff at local non-profits extend a helping hand, and work tirelessly to improve the lives of those in our communities who are facing some type of hardship. I am inspired by the dedication and hope of those givers, and I am truly grateful for their service.
The North Penn United Way exists to connect volunteers with those who need assistance, and to focus our collective efforts on helping build stronger communities. In addition, we want to help our neighbors understand the barriers that prevent others from being successful, and to then secure, and put to good use, our volunteers' time and talents to remove those barriers.
As a leading community organization, we are dedicated not only to funding programs that confront the issues facing those who need our help, but also to finding solutions to overcome those challenges. That means we are focused on the building blocks of a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, sufficient income to support a family through retirement and good health.
Our goal is to help the North Penn and Indian Valley communities recognize the wide array of services provided by the 37 United Way member agencies, and to understand that they all are vital to the economic health and development of our region. The majority of these services are focused on developing and sustaining a work force that can meet the demands of new businesses coming to our region. Our future is directly tied to the well-being of all our residents.
Today, philanthropy is not just about giving money to assist those in need. Giving to, or volunteering for, the United Way–or any non-profit organization–is a statement of hope and commitment to creating a brighter tomorrow for everyone in the greater North Penn and Indian Valley areas.
I invite you to "Live United", and to join us in taking advantage of the opportunities before us for building a stronger and more vibrant community. You can start contacting the North Penn United Way office, or by exploring our Web site at www.npuw.org.
Sincerely,
Mark Cummins
President of the Board for the North Penn United Way
